If life gives you lemons, cover them with lemons fabric! Well, it is a family joke, but I'm sure some of you out there can relate. I loved this fabric eversince I saw it the first time in Joann, but didn't buy it until later when they put it on super sale. I ended up getting 3 or 4 yards of it. They also had another version with black background. Yes, I bought it too! A dress will be coming soon to a blog near you.
It's been in my stash for, maybe 2 years now. You know, we all sewers have projects for the next 115 years, eventhough you know you are not going to make it that far. Anyway, I finally found a pattern that talked to me. This ruffled top from Peppermint magazine. I love everything about it. It was my first time using one of their patterns and for sure will not be the last. Very easy to sew. I already have in mind 2 or 3 hacks to this pattern. A dress, a ruffle here and there...you'll see.
I didn't grade between sizes and it turned out a little bit big on the lemons area hehe...speaking of lemons haha.
It also was my first french hemmed top I've made. It was a great experience. I always wanted to try the french seam, but if you have a serger why bother? Hehe I know, I know it looks so professional and cleaned. This was another reason for this fabric being perfect for this number. It is thin and somewhat see through, so french hem was perfect. Enjoy the pictures below. If you want to learn how to sew send me a message!!
